City of De Pere No Mow May Registration

No Mow May is a conservation initiative that encourages people to stop mowing or mow less often for the month of May to create habitat and provide resources for bees and other early-season pollinators.  This is particularly important in urban areas where floral resources are often limited.  First popularized by Plantlife, an organization based in the United Kingdom, No Mow May is gaining traction across North America.

During the month of May, the City of De Pere will relax the enforcement of long-grass rules, allowing De Pere residents to voluntarily delay or reduce lawn cutting as a way to promote pollinator-friendly habitat early in the growing season.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION:

1. "No Mow May" will begin on May 1, 2023, and end on May 31, 2023.

2. Lawn will be mowed to a maximum height of 12" by end of day June 1, 2023.

3. All grass clippings will be mulched, composted or removed from the yard by end of day June 1, 2023.

4. "No Mow May" sign will be displayed in the front yard for the duration of the program.

5. Signs will be available to pick up beginning April 17 and should be returned by June 16 to the De Pere Municipal Service Center located at 925 S. Sixth Street.

By checking this box, registrant certifies that they understand and agree to the terms of participation outlined above and certify the property they plan to submit is within City limits.

Do you currently have a No Mow May sign from 2022 in your possession? Signs for 2023 are the same and if you have a sign from last year, you will not need to come to the office to get a yard sign.
